The Tech Lockdown dashboard (Beta version) has been updated recently with new changes:

  1. Schedule internet downtime
  2. Target domains containing keywords

Scheduling Internet Downtime

You can now use the internet downtime preset to schedule turning off your internet. This works by blocking all internet traffic, effectively disabling the internet on a device.

Here's how to get started.

You can exclude categories or apps from being blocked using another Allow rule. For example, you might want to exclude any home security systems from being blocked if they depend on the internet to function properly.

Domains Containing Keywords

The Content Policy has been updated to support targeting domains that contain keywords.

In most cases, it's enough for you to specify categories, apps, or exact domains that you'd want to target.

However, there are some cases where you would want to block domains that contain a word.

For example, if you want to block websites that talk about McDonalds, but you didn't want to block Wendys, you could target the word "mcdonalds," which would automatically block all websites that use "mcdonalds" in the domain without blocking wendys, tacobell, etc.

To get started, go to your Tech Lockdown Content Policy and edit or create a new rule.

You can enter a word that you want to match against, press add, then save changes.

When visiting a website, this rule will be applied if the full word is found in the domain name.

This only applies to a domain name and not pages within a website. For example, this rule would match mcdonalds-fan-club.com but not https://reddit.com/r/mcdonalds since the domain in the latter case is reddit.com.
