Connect Mac to Content Policy
Install an app or configure settings to point a Macbook or iMac to your Content Policy.
We highly recommend using the Installation wizard we provide in your Tech Lockdown account dashboard. It will walk you through the installation process.
You can use this tutorial for additional reference.
WARP client
First, download the WARP client on for Mac. On Cloudflare’s page, click the download button.
You will then need to run the downloaded file. Follow the installation steps provided by the installer. The installer should be called “Cloudflare_WARP.pkg”.
Run the installer on your Mac machine. The WARP client should open automatically after the installation completes.
In the client, click on the gear icon. Go to Preferences.
Login to Zero Trust by navigating to Account > Login with Cloudflare Zero Trust.
You will need to enter your Team name in order for your device to connect to Zero Trust. When you linked your Cloudflare account, this was the Team name you chose.
Enter the Email address of the Member you want to sign in onto the device as.
You will receive a confirmation pin sent to the Member’s email. Enter this pin.
Activate Zero Trust.
That’s it! You are now able to Manage your Cloudflare Policies in the dashboard.
Prevent Bypass
After you've successfully connected your Mac device to your DNS Content Policy, the next step is to prevent bypassing your restrictions.
Mac devices have a few main options available to them:
- Use built-in Screen Time or Shortcuts features.
- Install a third-party blocking application that prevents the Mac device from accessing sensitive programs.
- Enable managed mode on your Mac device. Doing so unlocks the full range of restrictions that are normally impossible (or at least impractically difficult) on standard mac devices.
We have a dedicated guide that goes preventing bypass on mac that goes into more detail about each of these options.
Manual Config
You can customize the network settings on your Mac computer to point to your Content Policy. You can use this approach instead of connecting via the app or you can use it in combination with the app. We recommend connecting with both approaches so that if the app fails to connect, it will fall through to the device’s network settings.
Associate an IP address
It's important not to skip this step. Even if you don't plan to connect your home's Wi-Fi to your DNS Content Policy, you must associate an IPv4 address to get the unique connection information for your account.
If you've not connected a router to your Content Policy yet, you will need to create a network first.

Point a Router to your Content Policy
Point your home router to your Content Policy so that devices using your WiFi or ethernet connection use a filtered internet connection.
Your account will have unique addresses that can be used to point the network settings on your device directly to your content policy.
You can find this information under Content Policy > Connect Devices > Config.
Configure Network Settings
To change DNS/Network settings on your device:
- Choose Apple menu > System Settings.
- Click Network in the sidebar.
- Click a network service on the right, click Details, then click DNS.
- To add a DNS server, click the Add button at the bottom of the DNS servers list, then enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address
From here, enter the connection information on the Tech Lockdown dashboard.
